Introduction
Have you ever wondered what are the ten underrated features of Wix that you may not know about? In this Wix review, you will learn how to utilize Wix to its fullest potential. Louie, one of the subscribers and students, requested a review of the Wix website builder, asking “If you have the top 10 hacks for creating a great website on Wix, what would they be?”. So let’s dive straight into this Wix tutorial on the top 10 features of Wix.
Wix Feature #1 – Adding a New Page to Your Wix Website
In the past, when adding a new page to your Wix site, you had to start each new page from scratch or choose a specific page that comes with the Wix template you chose. Wix now has a number of new page templates. You can not only add a blank page to your Wix website but also add an About page, Services page, Projects page, Contact page, General page, Landing page, Store page, Booking page, Blog page, and Pricing Plans page. Wix Feature #2 – Customizing Your Wix Site with HTML
Although Wix has a number of page templates you can add to your website, you can take things to the next level by using HTML. With the HTML Wix code option, you can not only embed external features into your Wix site, such as email marketing forms from ConvertKit and Mailchimp, but also full website pages from another core system, as I do with all my options – in the pages that are already created using Leadpages and not Wix. Wix Feature #3 – Uploading Custom Fonts to Your Wix Site
While Wix has a full library of fonts you can use, as well as a number of font features you can customize to suit your needs, including headline and text paragraph options, you can take things to the next level by downloading fonts from external websites, such as DaFont and Google Fonts, and adding them to your Wix website. Wix Feature #4 – Easy Access to Your Wix Blog URL
I’m the type who enjoys creating content and scheduling it in advance. While the Wix blog editor allows you to customize the permanent link for the blog post URL, you can already click on “Advanced” from the SEO settings for the blog post editor, then on “canonical” or “OG: URL” to easily access that blog post URL, even before publishing it. Wix Feature #5 – Customizing Your Wix Site Mobile Menu
Wix not only has a drag-and-drop desktop website editor but also a drag-and-drop mobile editor. To access it, click on the “Switch to Mobile” icon in the top left corner of your Wix editor. From here, you can access a number of features, such as “Add to Mobile”, “Menus & Pages”, “Background”, “Mobile Tools”, “Hidden Elements”, and “Page Layout Optimizer”. Wix Feature #6 – Sharpening Images on Your Wix Site
Wix has a built-in image editor that allows you to easily enhance and edit all the images you add to your website. To access the Image Studio, click on the image you want to edit, then click on “Settings” from the individual toolbar, then click on “Adjust”. From here, you can crop and resize your image, enhance your image, adjust the brightness and color of your image, add effects to your image, or even add an element to your image, such as text, overlay, or background. Wix Feature #7 – Adding a Lightbox to Your Wix Site
The lightbox is Wix’s version of a pop-up window, making it very easy to add one, even if you’re not a tech expert. All you have to do is click on “Add” from the panel on the left side of your Wix editor, then click on “Interactive”, then click on “Lightboxes”. Wix has a number of lightboxes you can choose from, including Welcome, Subscribe, Promo, and Contact. You can set these pop-up windows to appear after a certain number of seconds after the page loads, or even when someone clicks on a button. Wix Feature #8 – Adding a Custom YouTube or Blog Feed to Your Wix Site Homepage
If you take a look at the Yes To Tech homepage, it includes a feed of posts on YouTube and a blog that automatically updates when I publish new content. To add a YouTube feed to your Wix website, click on “Add” from the right panel in your Wix editor, “Video & Music”, then select “Wix Video”. To add a blog feed to your Wix website, click on “Add” from the right panel, “Blog”, then select “Recent Posts”. Wix Feature #9 – Easily Chatting with Visitors on Your Wix Site
You can add a Wix Chat tool to your Wix website to allow visitors to instantly connect with you through live chat. The best part is that while they interact with you through the chat box, you receive all those chat messages via email, making it easy to keep track of new chat messages. To add the chat feature to your Wix website, click on “Add” from the right panel in your Wix editor, “Contact & Forms” then on “Wix Chat Button”.
Wix Feature #10 – Attracting Visitors to Your Website with Wix’s Cinemagraph Options
Wix makes it easy for you to add stunning cinemagraphs to the background of your website. There is a whole section dedicated to them in the Wix Editor, all 100% free to use, however you like. To add cinemagraphs to your Wix website, click on “Background” from the right panel in your Wix editor, click on “Video” then select “Media from Wix”. Within the dropdown menu of categories, click on “Cinemagraphs”. Choose a cinemagraph of your choice, then click on “Change Background” at the bottom to add it to your Wix website.
