How to use WordPress 1 Click Install – Dreamhost Tutorial.
Tutorial Hosting
So in this quick video tutorial I’m just going to show you how to install WordPress onto your web host so you can use it as your platform to make a website so I’m on my website and you’ll clear to stop me at the moment now just
Scroll down to the bottom and I click on resources and we’ve got web hosting and domain domain registration and I use dream host for a lot of my websites so just click on dream host open up the dream host website if you have an account with dream host if you’ve already got web
Hosting with dream host you can just log in here if you haven’t can click on hosting and sign up for the shared hosting plan if this is your first website but I have an account with dream host so I’m just going to log in okay so this is a back end so what
You have to do is is I go to manage domains but what we’re going to do in the end is we’re going to click on this oneclick installs and we’re going to do the one click install for WordPress and I’ll show you how easy it is to install
WordPress but for now I’m going to go to manage domains and I’ll get a list of the domains I’ve got hosted with dream host now I have a few but this one here local huddle is a domain name I own but I haven’t done anything with it yet and
If we click visit we’ll go and visit the website local hudle.com and you see it just takes us to the dream host landing page because we haven’t installed WordPress yet and started to build a website and that’s what we’ll do now so like I said it’s really easy so just click one click
Installs up here and if you do go with another web host they should if they’re appealing to WordPress users have a one click install similar to this we’ll just click one click installs and it loads up this page here and we’ve got all these different links of different software CU they do support
Lotss of different software but we’re not using any of that we’re just using WordPress so just click WordPress then we get this installer page so what we do is Click custom install and we choose what domain we want to install WordPress on so our is local hudle and
Then we’ve got this option to automatically create database we could have set up our own database beforehand but just to make life much easier here we’ll say yes automatically creating your database we’ve got a tick box here we’re just going to untick that because we don’t want it to install extra
Plugins and themes for us we want the bare minimum WordPress install and we just click install it for me now there we go it’s it’s done it it’s a success so now we have WordPress installed and it says we’ve been emailed links to help configure this so
We can go and check our email and it’s also says we’ve got a database called this created for us but we’ll go and visit this website now and see what it looks like and here we go so this is the first page you come to so your website isn’t up here yet
Because you’ve got to do a few things to set up WordPress and it’s really easy so you just need to give your website a title so we’ll call our Lo hoodle then now we need a username and then a password and this is what you use
To log in to the back end or dashboard of your WordPress website and that’s how you create new pages and do some styling so these will be unique to you so create yourself a nice username and a nice password okay and keep these secret obviously because this is your personal
Login to your website and you don’t want anyone else accessing it then you need to put your email and this is because if you forget your password and you need a reminder or a reset sent out to you it’ll use this email address so it’s important to put a valid email
Here okay and then you’ve got this option to say allow search engines to index the site and you’ll want to save that leave that tick because of course you want to rank in Google but there are some situations maybe you’re developing a site and you don’t want Google and
Other search engines to index the developed site until it’s completely finished so you can untick this but we’re going to leave that checked and you just click install WordPress then you get the success message saying that’s it we’ve done we’ve got a username and then we can log
In so we just click log in and it redirects us to the login page so this will become familiar with you if you start developing a website so you just put in your username and password that you set up just before and then log in and that’s it so we’ve gotten
Straight into the dashboard here of WordPress and this is where and we have lots of default things here and I’m not going to go into how to set up WordPress but there will be some other tutorials around to help you with this so if we go visit website
Here this is a front page of a website live on the internet at local hudle and if you’re interested in styling your website more professionally using a premium theme and also premium framework called The Genesis framework then you may want to check out my make your own professional website course
