How to Install WordPress on Dreamhost with a One-Click Installation Tutorial

Hey everyone it’s Rob from the how-to Web Master show I just wanted to come in and do a quick tutorial on how to do a oneclick install and set up of WordPress on dreamhost um if you don’t have a dream host account you can click the link in
The section below and get one but uh first off we’re just going to start on how to actually install WordPress so you log into your dreamhost account um at uh panel. dreamhost.com and uh you come in and click on the oneclick installs when you when you click on that the page will load
Up and uh you’ll see WordPress here in the top right hand corner so you click on that and then we’re going to do a custom installation um simple installation will work but uh it doesn’t give you access to a lot of the stuff we’re going to be using so we’re going
To do a custom installation now we’re going to choose a domain to uh put it on I’m going to put mine at demo one how to Web Master show.com and uh we’re just going to leave it to automatically create database and click it install it for me
Now so it just takes a second and uh I’ll get a little notification there that it’s going to be set up within 10 minutes so in 10 minutes time you’ll have a fresh installation of um WordPress at your website so uh we’re going to wait 10
Minutes and when I get back we’ll uh set it up okay so when you go to your domain name um and uh after you’ve done the oneclick install this is the screen you will see and uh uh first thing um you’re going to need a site name so this is
We’re just going to call this one demo uh one how to Web Master show and username admin um you can make it something different uh just for this I’m going to leave it as a Min you probably should consider a different login name just for security reasons and
Then you’re going to want to put in a password now big thing you want to have a complicated password for your website um there’s a lot of different ways they can crack it and uh if you don’t have a strong password you’re probably not going to um do well
If a hacker comes after your site so uh you need a strong password so we’re just going to type something in here now you see down here it says strong um and I’ve used a combination of characters and dashes is um to make it
Strong um so you have to type it in a second time to verify oh and I got a mismatch how embarrassing and there we go so then you uh want to put in your email address and you want to uh click this allow my site to appear in search
Engines like Google and technocity or techn yeah so there we go and then we’re just going to click log in and then uh there we go so now you have WordPress installed now uh like I said in the podcast uh to play around you want to go
To um your posts and there’s a a sample Post in here called hello world you can just click edit and go in and see how that that all works in WordPress um sections you probably want to stay out of uh plugins um and settings um other than that have free
Range go around play around even the appearance um in here you’ll have a lot of options depending on your themes if you are using uh dream host um there’s two default themes uh installed that are just basic but can be touched up quite easily so anyway um that’s it for this
