How to add a TXT record for a domain
Tutorial Hosting
In this video, we are going to show you how to set up a TXT record for your domain. This type of record is mainly used to either verify your domain with third-party services or to configure your mail service.
Your domain will need to be using our BasicDNS, PremiumDNS, or FreeDNS for you to be able to configure the TXT record via your Namecheap account. So, to start configuring the record, log in and navigate to ‘Domain List’ on the left and then click ‘Manage’ next to your domain. .
Choose the ‘Advanced DNS’ tab from the top menu, locate the ‘Host records’ section, and click on the ‘Add new record’ button. Select ‘TXT Record’ for ‘Type’ and insert a TXT record string into the ‘Value’ field – usually, you can get this string from your service provider
For ‘Host’, add an ‘@’, that corresponds to the domain or subdomain that you need to create the сorresponding record for – we’ll use ’test’ as an example here. Please be aware that, in our system, the domain name itself need not be included in the ‘Host’
Field. It means that if you want to add the record for test.nctest.info, you’ll only need to type in ‘test’ as a ‘Host’ value – even if your service provider asked you to add the domain itself as well. Click on the ‘Save all changes’ button.
Normally, it takes 30 minutes for newly created host records to take effect. Thank you for watching! If you have any questions, just post them under this video. Or check out our Knowledgebase at Namecheap.com for more tips and support.
