Hey guys it’s Johnny from WP Johnny and it’s been a while today I want to talk about this hosting service called Scala hosting um I think these guys have been around for a while oh don’t mind these uh some words are in Portuguese because I’m learning Portuguese I’m using this
Uh browser extension that like swaps words into Portuguese sometimes Okay so Scala hosting is this really cool traditional I’d I consider it more like a traditional web hosting provider uh there’s something like a competitor to siteground they’ve been a lot around a while they have a lot of clients they
Have a lot of services and they offer all the typical like shared hosting versus dedicated hosting and VPS server hosting um obviously if you go by shared hosting then your plans are going to be based on like uh let’s go here your plans will be based on like how much disk phase how
Many websites you can have uh and then whatever extra features may come with it like regarding security backups etc etc they’re shared hosting to their shared hosting services are pretty cheap for what you get you pay very low price um and then you can host as much as many sites as you want
And you have a ton of space so obviously the shared hosting is going to be on a slower server and shared with other clients the server is shared with other clients I mean if you go with like their VPS options okay then you get your own server and
Then you can choose like the server size there’s discounts if you pay for you know more of the plan up front if you pay like three years up front you get a huge discount if I were you just buy one month and then upgrade uh to like a long like long billing cycle
Plan if you really like them okay you choose what kind of stuff you want now um for these features uh let’s see where is it oh self-managed yeah uh you can choose like a managed server or you can choose like a self-managed server so that’s your own server and you manage it yourself
Obviously uh costs and options will be different you know you just decide what you want and you choose it so you know your data center location size of the drive Etc and Etc now let’s talk about what actually makes Scala hosting unique I think the one big thing that they do
Uniquely is that they made their own web hosting panel so they call it this is pretty funny they call it s-panel and it’s kind of a play on cpanel okay so it looks a lot like cpanel clearly it was inspired by cpano you can even argue that it’s a rip-off or
Whatever you really could but what I like about it is that when you look at it you understand right away how it’s used okay so they also offer cpanel hosting for like their shared hosting but if you get their VPS plans you have the S panel option it looks a
Lot like cpanel it works a lot like cpanel uh just very very similar-ish in how it looks and functions and I like this because you know many web hosts were they were screwed over when the C paddle kept raising their prices so many hosts just said screw it
They um they went and they made their own control panel so for example siteground has their own control panel um and you can see that it looks different maybe you like the difference maybe you don’t like the difference so Scala hosting made their own panel
It’s called s panel so for me like wow that’s pretty good uh you have to have a really strong development team to make your own control panel okay um in case you’re curious about the performance I’m here in the back end so this is not like front end and cache
This is the back end and for the most part it’s quite responsive uh this as you can see this is me testing my site on their s-panel control panel off like a VPS plan like a custom Cloud plan I like it pretty responsive and of course I’m showing you the back end
Because I want you to see the dynamic response right because when things are cached it’s always fast okay not bad this is their cpanel um okay going to the back and here you go oh just so you know my internet’s not the fastest here um all right so it’s pretty fast so
Good cpanel good s panel oh here’s a client area so you can see I’ve been testing their services for over six months I’ve bothered their support I’ve messed around tried all kinds of things and it’s really cool it’s really really cool uh they have all the security stuff the SSL certificates
Backups if you need email hosting like dedicated email hosting you can get that but I believe you can also have email hosting with just your regular like s-panel account um anything else that I would say that would set Scala hosting aside from the competitors uh the S panel makes things
Cheaper because it’s their own in-house panels so because they’re not paying for a cpanel license they can pass these savings on to you that means you can get a faster server for lower cost it’s just a matter if you like the S panel if you like a more traditional
Control panel right I like control panels like this because it’s very easy to see everything and click on offer everything from one page whereas maybe like a service like cloudways it’s like a bunch of little panels here on the side and they have to click in and then
You have to click into another Tab and click into another screen there’s many screens you have to go through and that’s kind of annoying okay and that’s for someone like me I’m very familiar with cloudways for an old school style hosting client maybe you’re not familiar with cloudways at all you want something
That looks like cpanel well guess what s panel delivers so that’s why I think makes them unique their s panel and just so you know their s-panel integrates with nginx integrates with Lightspeed so you could have open light speed which is great because it runs off my favorite WordPress cache plugin
