Godaddy is trash (Godaddy review)

Tutorial Hosting
GoDaddy is probably the worst domain
register and hosting provider on the
entire internet and this video is going
to explain why this is GoDaddy as you
can see if we scroll down here we have a
few different things that we can
actually buy with godadi first of all we
have domains over here and this looks
fantastic we can buy aom domain for 19
cents in the first year if this is true
which we will get to in a minute then
this is far cheaper than any domain
software that is out there we can also
buy a professional email to get an email
aty yourdomain.com we can also get web
hosting SSL security WordPress Microsoft
and so many different things they also
have some fantastic reviews down here
and GoDaddy as you probably know are one
of the most well-known and definitely
pump the most money into ads more than
any other domain register like if you
search for the best domain register and
go to any of these then God Daddy is
always going to pop up at the top with
the featured partners because they pay
the most money however let’s now go in
and actually try to buy a domain with
GoDaddy I’m just going to keep this nice
and simple go for GeForce North test.com
and boom exact much right here this is
available and the price has already gone
up so I thought this was meant to be a
scent and once again this is super cheap
however in this small text under here
this is only the first year with a
specifically threee ter so if we want to
get this domain for only 19 cents in the
first year then we actually have to buy
the domain for 3 years in total but
let’s go ahead and add this to the
basket and suddenly this has jumped up
to $44 in total for these three years so
while this is technically true and they
are charging $19 for that first year the
second two years are going to be charged
at around
$22.25 which is super expensive for
domain let’s now turn this down to just
a year if we want to buy this domain for
just a year then this is going to be
$127 for the first year and then it’s
going to renew at $22 once again this is
super expensive for any type of domain
if we check out this exact same domain
GeForce North test.com on porkbun which
is another domain registra we can see
this is $6.99 for the first year and
then it’s going to renew at
$10.3 so not only are we saving almost
half on the first year but on porkbun
it’s going to renew at once again less
than half of the price that we would pay
with GoDaddy and this is the exact same
domain we can also run this exact same
test on name cheep which is my personal
favorite domain register and although
this is a little bit more expensive than
pork bun coming in at $8 for the first
year once again this is going to renew
at
$13.98 which is way cheaper than Gaddy
that comes in at $22 now this isn’t even
the tip of the iceberg with just how
expensive GoDaddy is GoDaddy domains do
not come with SSL and SSL is one of the
most important things that you can
install on your website essentially SSL
gives you this padlock icon that shows
up next to your website and shows that
the connection is secure now it is
absolutely critical that any website has
this because if you don’t anytime
somebody tries to access your website
whichever browser they are using I
usually going to show a message that
looks like this that says hey this
website is not secure and they could be
trying to steal your data so if SSL
security is absolutely necessary when
buying a domain how expensive is this
with Gaddy the answer is extremely I
have personally never seen any domain
register charge this much for an SS L
certificate with the cheapest one coming
in at $69 for that first year once again
with a 3year turn this is going to Ren
you at $300 for your SSL once again
comparing this to some other domain
providers we can see this is name cheep
right here and to get SSL on your name
cheep site this is only going to be
$5.99 for the first year and then Renew
at $13.20 once again this is compared to
the 3 $100 per EUR that you will be
paying to renew this with GoDaddy the
final thing that I want to mention in
terms of a godaddy domain is also this
full domain protection which doesn’t
really make sense at all GoDaddy charge
$10 per year for this which isn’t the
most expensive but when you look at what
this actually does this is supposed to
protect your domain so they say that
this ensures your domains safety and
credibility and effectively stops people
from hacking into the domain by allowing
you to get two Factor authentication
which guards against unauthorized
changes transfers or deletions now this
sounds fantastic and definitely seems
worth it to get that two- Factor
authentication on your account until you
realize that you can literally just go
into the backend settings of godadi and
set up two Factor authentication anyway
now if a hacker actually did want to
hack in and steal your domain the main
way that they would be able to do this
is simply by hacking into your GoDaddy
account so the fact that you can protect
your GoDaddy account with two Factor
authentication completely eliminates the
need to buy this domain protection so
buying a domain with GoDaddy is super
expensive and just not worth it but what
about hosting now hosting on GoDaddy is
actually pretty good but once again it’s
just super expensive if we go over to
the hosting area right here and we go
for web hosting we can see these are
some of the plans right here we have web
hosting economy web hosting Deluxe web
hosting ultimate and maximum and once
again they have this kind of misleading
pricing where it says yes you can get
this for $6.99 per month with a one-year
term but you pay $83 today because you
have to buy the hosting for the entire
year and once again this is going to be
super expensive to renew at
$219 per year if we want to pay for this
monthly this is going to cost
$1.99 per month and then on top of this
with the monthly plan you have to get
rid of the free product that you are
given so the most important thing is the
SSL certificate that you get included
with this hosting plan you only get if
you go for the yearly plan or higher and
if we switch to the monthly that’s going
to get rid of this free FSL certificate
meaning that we then have to buy it for
$99 per year apart from that though the
things that you get with the hosting are
pretty standard you can host one website
20 5 GB of storage and overall this is
just average web hosting for a super
expensive price comparing this to name
cheap hosting let’s go in right here we
can set this to yearly to start off with
we can see that with this standard plan
this is going to be $17 per year and
then Renew at $44 per year so this is
more than four times cheaper than what
we are going to pay on GoDaddy for that
one year of Hosting however we do of
course need to go down and add this SS L
certificate which is going to be an
extra $5 but even so we are going to be
paying in total for everything on them
cheap for the hosting SSL certificate
and the domain we are only going to be
paying $32 whereas on GoDaddy for the
exact same thing for the year for the
hosting domain and SSL this is going to
be $84 and then the price difference is
going to be even more huge when it’s
renews for that second year okay but if
GoDaddy is more expensive it’s got to be
better right in some ways yes but in
other ways no for example GoDaddy does
have some of the fastest page load time
in the entire game if we take a look
here the GoDaddy average load speed is
1.44 seconds compared to name chep
coming in at 1.69 so this is a win for
GoDaddy of the bat however if we scroll
down even further and take a look at the
website up time we can see that name
cheep is up 100% of the time meaning
that it’s very very unlikely for your
website to be offline at any point
GoDaddy is not bad here coming in at a
99.95% up time but for the extra price
paying almost four times as much for
Gaddy than you would with name cheep
these statistics just don’t back up that
price difference okay so now on to my
final thoughts GoDaddy as a service is
actually not bad however the pricing
that they have is just absolutely
ridiculous personal I fell into the Trap
of going with GoDaddy thinking they were
by far the best on the market and not
really realizing how expensive they were
when I first hopped into the game the
ads that they run the fact that every
website says that they are number one is
pretty convincing until you take a
deeper dive into hosting and domain
regist personally I switched all of my
domains over to name cheep about 2 years
ago at this point just for the price of
this and the fact that name cheep is
also for a fantastic service the main
reason being is because it is cheaper
and it’s actually better than GoDaddy
when you look at things like the hosting
up time if you do want to grab name
cheap you can grab a huge discount on
all of your hosting and domains if you
use the first link in the description
but apart from that I would genuinely
use any other domain regist or hosting
other than GoDaddy just because of the
pricing being absolutely ridiculous so
that is my review of GoDaddy if you
