Tutorial Hosting
Bluehost is one of the most popular web hosts out there i mean search google or youtube for best web hosting and you always see bluehost at the top of the list now is this because they’re actually good or is it because they make these bloggers and youtubers the most affiliate commissions when promoting

Them hmm well unlike a lot of other youtubers reviewing these topics i actually have a website with over 500 000 monthly readers i’ve used bluehost and before being a full-time blogger i manage digital marketing teams building websites with tons of different kinds of web hosts and i know their differences

That’s why in this video i’m reviewing the current web hosting landscape and diving into bluehost and its features in 2022 so we’ll cover if bluehost is right for wordpress it’s types of hosting it’s speed uptime security support pricing and a lot more and if you stay till the

End i’ll give you my final verdict on bluehost against the competition and how it performs against other web hosts in 2022 but before we get started i want to invite you to watch my free blogging masterclass how to start a profitable blogging business goes over my exact content link building and affiliate

Marketing strategies how i currently make over 1.5 million dollars a year with my blog so just click the link in the description below and let’s get into the topic for today bluehost is one of the most widely known and popular web hosts on the market today when you think about you know

Starting a wordpress site many people’s minds go right to bluehost because they have kind of entry level pricing all the broad features that you needed as a beginner so when we look at the current web hosting landscape in the market share we can see that you know godaddy

Is number one with 2.5 million companies using them at sixteen percent of the market share then you have like amazon aws google cloud one on one hostgator which is also owned by the same company as bluehost and then bluehost is here with 531 000 companies using them 3.39 of the market share so

Very popular you know a top six web host in the entire world according to this data knives report so i’m going to go over all the different features of bluehost you know who can use it we’ll go into the dashboard and all that but first let’s look at

Their different types of hosting and their pricing so when you use the link in the description below that’s my affiliate link and you’ll get the you know this introductory 2.95 a month discount and we look at there’s different types of postings so the most popular is going to

Be their wordpress hosting so basically you log into bluehost you can create your domain and your site and then you get one click go right into wordpress and it’s pretty easy to use but you know that’s going to be the most common use of bluehost is wordpress shared hosting so shared hosting that

They have is typical of typical of what you’ll use and that’s shared you know server space so you’re sharing the server with other companies and brands and until your website gets you know 500 000 visitors a month or something you don’t really need to worry too much about shared hosting

So they have all these different pricing plans so we have basic which is best for you know small sites up to pro at 13.95 a month so there’s these discounts um when you choose to purchase annually on these different terms so that’s true of any web host basically if you lock it in

For 36 months you’re going to pay a lot less than if you pay monthly and that’s how they get you because you can start out at an introductory price of like 295 a month but then after that 12 month term is up you’re paying 9.99 a month

Like it says here so basically you’d pay for 12 months so around 35 36 for the year and then you’ll pay 120 the next year so you want to lock in the pricing so if you’re you know if you’re if you know that you’re going to

Be using this website for years then you can do a 36 month option if you’re not sure and you’re just like building a website then you can go with a shorter term but you know you go over these different plans and they have different things so basic 295 a month you can do

One website and then once you get the plus you can do unlimited websites and then once you get to you know their choice plus plan then you’re getting things like you know free office 365 domain privacy these different added features that they start adding to you pro ideal for high traffic websites so

The truth is you know you get some extra features when you upgrade but for the most part you just want to choose something that you know if you’re doing shared hosting then you’re doing shared hosting it’s not vps hosting it’s not dedicated so is it going to be faster if you choose the

Pro plan is it going to have better uptime if you choose the profile not really so it really depends on what you want here and you know basically you want to lock in the best term for your money so you can choose like the choice plus plan or something like that if you

Have like multiple websites and you want some other features like domain privacy you don’t want people to know where you live based on your domain name so ultimately you know web hosting pricing it’s just going to be you know a little bit of additional features but that doesn’t affect a lot of the

Things like you know site speed up time and all that then if we look at the types of hosting they’re shared hosting dedicated and vps so shared again is all of these plans that we just discus uh covered dedicated hosting is where you get your own dedicated server so this is you know

Higher end you know pricing if you really need that speed and reliability so they’re standard enhanced and premium anywhere from 79.99 to 119.99 and then it goes over you know these top features so the core speed the cpu speed caching the ram the storage you know basic computer store you know

Computer and server um specs that you’d want to look at so if you do need dedicated hosting you want to definitely google like dedicated hosting all the specs and compare bluehost wp engine you know these different companies siteground you know whatever you’re going to use so compare that like ram

And processing speed look it up time look at all of those things so for the most part though with bluehost and people just starting a website we’re all going to be using shared hosting so take a look at the plans you can see that if you go to 36 months they

Actually 12 months is cheaper because we’re using my link here but you know we just take a look at these different plans and pricing and i recommend you probably get started with something like the plus or choice plus which gives you just a few extra features so let’s talk about speed and

Uptime which are really important for hosting basically you want to rank on google right you want to rank your blog or your website for different things and to do that one you know search ranking factor is site speed so the ability for your page to load quickly whether you’re

You know have a really long blog post you’re having videos embedded or you have all these different javascript files that are loading you want your website to load quickly and you want up time because you want it to actually be up most of the time you don’t want to

Have server failures and then your site’s down and that’s not good for anyone’s business so website setup did an interesting study and they have bluehost monitoring since 2017 the history monthly of uptime and response time so we can see uptime is basically the percentage of time in the entire month that the

Website is actually up or live not down because of server errors so we see february 2022 was good 100 so far it’s only been a few days so far so it hasn’t been that long yet january though we see 99.99 which is solid same thing with december there were some issues in

November it looks like if i click into that i wonder what it even shows but it shows there was some down time for a couple days in early december so you know sometimes these happen like my website went down with my web host for a day and it’s like

You know with aws and all these clouds things working together sometimes you can have these failures but otherwise you know you want to get over 99 so may is 99.7 99.9 199.98 so we’re seeing a little bit of issues in october and november that have since been resolved back into december january

And february so uptime is a big component i’d say bluehost has average uptime compared to the competition not the best definitely not the worst but in the middle somewhere that’s decent enough for a beginner website you’re not if you’re just starting out it’s not a big deal

And then response time so this is you know how quickly the server responds and how quickly things load so this is more of a site speed metric but we can see that over time this number is slowly going down so august 2021 was a little bit high over a second

And then we got 700 729 734 679 so again that is also kind of in the middle of the pack when it comes to site speed if you want blazing fast site speed you can try you know potentially other hosts like a2 you know web hosting or some of

Those other maybe wpx or some of these other newer platforms if site speed’s really important to you but again with bluehost you get everything you need as a beginner you get average uptime you get average response time you get low pricing you get all these different

Things so it’s i would say as far as uptime and speed go bluehost lives right in the middle of the pack next let’s talk about bluehost support so in the event that your web host goes down or you have issues or you can’t figure something out in your you know bluehost

Dashboard you’re going to need web hosting support so you want somebody you know support that’s quick gets back to you and resolves your issue in a very fast way so bluehost has 24 7 support via chat and phone and i’ve used them personally and i’d say again they’re

Kind of middle in the pack when it comes to support they don’t have the best support they’re not getting back to you in 30 minutes and resolving your issue they’re giving you like a ticket format and then you get you know someone will get back to you and typically resolve

Your problem within 24 to 48 hours but i would say from a support perspective you know they’re good their team is well trained and they’re helpful they’re very nice and kind when they help you but i would say if you want you know better support there’s other better options

Like for example if you look at wpx they you know they’re really known for their support so 30 second average support response if support is really really important to you which you know i don’t it’s an important feature for me but it’s not like the most important

Feature for web hosting i’d rather focus on like security speed and reliability overall performance than worrying about someone answering my questions but wpx has like you know the best support the 30 second support that’s what they’re known for so support you can contact bluehost their support team is there

They’re going to say they’re kind of middle in the pack when it comes to support when it comes to security bluehost uses a company called sitelock and you can you know choose that as an option when you’re checking out um and buying your web hosting now sitelock is

Security for small business they do a lot of different things they do like you know vulnerability scanning malware removal different reports firewalls patching all these different things ultimately i don’t really recommend necessarily always using sitelock you can find better and different options like in wordpress like using wordfence

Or one of these security plugins i often tell people that when you’re checking out of bluehost just uncheck site lock security because you can use better options with things like word fence or different types of security plugins so overall they provide you know basic web security the key with you know security

On your web hosting is to make sure that you’re doing things like you know using an email address that people can’t spoof and having a really strong password when you log in having two-factor authentication if you can doing these things in the login and like having you

Know a good strong security plan for your business but i’d say you know bluehost has pretty good security they mainly use sitelock and a few other tools to do that all right so let’s take a quick look at the bluehost dashboard so when you choose your domain name and you

Log in then you can get into your bluehost dashboard and right here you’ll see that you know when you log in and you have a domain name and everything you can just one click log into wordpress and it’ll get you right into the wordpress dashboard it makes it really easy

Which is nice and then there’s also other things you can do here you can customize your design you can write your first blog post add plugins to your wordpress site all these things on the main page let’s get into the cpanel so cpanel you can see you know bluehost

Uses this and this is the file manager you can add or edit files here there’s phpmyadmin my sql databases all the things that you’d expect from a web hosting you know cpanel configuration so there’s you know the metrics you can view so visitors errors bandwidth webalizer and then

Security so this is where you can add your ssl certificate so you want everything to be https of course manage your api tokens another software so there’s different things you can use here application managers wordpress managers and then there’s lots of advanced features like cron jobs apache

Handlers things that are a little bit above my pay grade when it comes to like being an actual developer so a lot of this you don’t actually have to use if you’re actually just you know one click logging into wordpress going back up here logging into wordpress getting into

Your wordpress dashboard the key to good you know web hosting is getting into wordpress making it easy to log in using you know certain plugins that optimize speed so bluehost by itself you know your server is going to really dictate the you know response time how quickly

It goes but then you can also integrate things that will really help overall so besides these bluehost features and besides you know you know specific for the web host like you can do things like cdn so using cloudflare have a content delivery network that you know spaces out your

Files over the world so that they’re served quicker you can use other you know wordpress plugins like autoptemize and wp rocket and speed things up and caching plugins and things like that so a lot of site speed is actually dictated not just by the web host but also by a

Cdn and wordpress plugins so with that you know bluehost is pretty easy to use dashboard you can view all of your different things here on your wordpress site your domain your email the marketplace for different you know tools that you can use with bluehost your domains you can

Set up email marketing marketing tools and then you can look at your cpanel so it’s a pretty intuitive easy to use dashboard experience so let’s compare bluehost to a few other web hosts out there so when i think of bluehost i think of an overall average website

Builder good for any beginners at a good price point so if you’re just starting a blog or a website bluehost is more than enough to get started now if you’re really like want either support security speed there’s a couple different web hosts that i would recommend as well

Compared to bluehost so with bluehost you get you know three dollar a month pricing basically that’s you know you can start for a year for about 35 to 36 your second year will be about 120 but ultimately if you’re starting a business online or if you’re you know

Starting a blog to make money you know that is basically a very cheap price to get started and run a business but comparatively i would say that if you want really good a new web host that has really good speed and support you could go with wpx

So you can see the different pricing here they’re a little bit more expensive you can do monthly or yearly so you get two months free if you pay for a yearly but wpx is really good they’re a newer web host great support we’ll get back to

You literally in 30 seconds a little bit more expensive i also have my link for them below so that’s an option for you so check them out for sure they’re like kind of a newer web host you know a little bit different a little bit more pricey but

You know it’s if it’s what you want then you should use them and then also if you’re like a bigger larger business or an enterprise or you want really good security and better speed you know maybe you’re getting more traffic you’re a higher traffic website then i recommend

Wp engine wp engine is a little bit more expensive too but they have really good managed wordpress hosting they’re really good for e-commerce brands as well like if you want you know maximizing your speed performance and seo all that threat blocking all of that security you

Know a little bit higher end web host then i would definitely recommend wp engine instead of bluehost they’re a little bit more robust i um you know i know that they’re faster for higher traffic websites and they do good for like you know wordpress enterprise like agencies headless wordpress which

Can also be e-commerce related type things for sales so if you need higher-end security and speed wp engine’s a good price uh good choice if you need better support see look at them trying to chat with me already then you can use wpx so overall i think of

Bluehost is a good beginner web host right they’re not the best in the world they’re average when it comes to things like speed and up time and support however at their introductory pricing the easy you know ways to log into wordpress with one click they’re more than enough for

Beginners which is why i think they’re always recommended in these you know youtube videos and web hosting google posts and things like that i think that people promote them because they are actually really good for beginners and people just starting out so that’s it for my bluehost review i hope you found

It helpful please click the link in my description below to check out what bluehost is offering you can get my specific discount there and save a lot of money on your hosting plan you can also check out wpx and wp engine let me know what you think do you use bluehost
