Siteground Review 2022: Best Choice for Web Hosting This Year?

Tutorial Hosting

2022 is a new year but like every year
comes the same old problems one of those
is figuring out how to keep all your
sites up and running and if your new
year’s resolution last year was to start
a blog it’s probably time to worry about
web hosting again especially if you want
to get it done before all new year’s
sales are finished so let’s do an
in-depth siteground review and rundown
and see if you should swap to it or
maybe give it a pass and look for
something else
speed and up time
one of the most important factors to
look at in your website is of course
loading speed patience is a four letter
word on the internet and you’ll be lucky
if someone waits five seconds for your
page to load and based on research many
people give up these days after just two
that’s why it’s important to note that
you get what you pay for here siteground
is a shared hosting website meaning they
share the load for everyone’s sites on a
single server and spread out across
shared sets of servers the more you pay
the more you get in terms of bandwidth
essentially if you’re a small blog with
a few hundred followers you can afford
to skimp
if you’re bigger though you’ll want
siteground’s top level options which
allow up to four hundred thousand
monthly visitors or you may even wanna
pass on them entirely and look for a
service that doesn’t use shared hosting
basically their speeds are fine but do
cap out pretty quickly and get slower
the more visitors you have if you’re a
rising star make sure not to bump your
head on the ceiling and fall back to the
bottom
customer support
not much to say here really they seem
like nice folk and you can get a hold of
them 24 7 by either chat or phone no
complaints at all but fairly standard
stuff is it good for wordpress
wordpress installation and customization
is a pain it’s a process i’ve done
manually a few times and never want to
go through again
so siteground expediting the process for
you that’s a big plus it takes just a
few clicks to get everything up and
running from there you can customize and
manage via wordpress’s site directly
which is a snap pick your themes make
your first page and get started
woocommerce
if you’re looking to sell merch have no
fear you can install the woocommerce
plugin for your site with just the click
of a button as well and start setting up
your storefront this can be done during
initial setup or just by browsing for
wordpress plugins after you get
everything started whether you’re
selling t-shirts or jars of homemade
natural gas it’ll take you about 10
minutes to get up and running
ease of use
in some ways siteground is incredibly
simple and in other ways it’s a bit hard
to navigate all the important stuff is
upfront and easy to find like how you
set up your first site however it can
take a bit of navigating to find
everything you need you’re going to need
to do a lot of clicking around to find
out for example that the home tab is
pretty much completely useless
all your initial setup options are here
but to manage any existing sites you
need to go to the websites tab then hit
the site tools button to manage
everything modifying anything about the
site itself is done through whatever
service you’ve set it up on
special features
in addition to its excellent wordpress
affinity siteground also lets you set up
weebly sites as well this is good for
anything you don’t want to go too in
depth on just keep in mind that as a
tool weebly is a lot more limited than
wordpress is and in my opinion isn’t
much simpler to use once you get the
hang of the core options needed to use
wordpress siteground also offers a
variety of extras on their site though
most of these are more like necessities
thankfully the most important two of
these are free to a point you can use
cloudflare cdn support and ssl
encryption for no additional cost both
increase the security of your website
which allows them to be better trusted
and the cloudflare edition also helps
your page to load faster remember
attention span short need load fast both
of these do have premium options however
but these aren’t super useful for the
average user as we’ve already covered
you’re not going to be using siteground
for your hugely successful blog or store
so the overlap between siteground users
and those who actually need the premium
variants is going to be slim
they also offer a site builder which is
also free with premium upgrades that can
make getting your site set up a bit
easier if you use weebly not wordpress
alongside a site scanner to detect
malware on your site and unique ip
address for an additional charge each
both are worth the minimal cost in my
opinion especially the site scanner the
only thing you want infecting your
visitors is a hunger for your own
products
let’s talk money and down to everybody’s
favorite topic finances sexy thankfully
you won’t get too much sticker shock
from siteground their prices are fairly
reasonable as you can see in a certain
sense you’re basically looking at a
price jump of roughly 30 percent at each
stage
for many multiple times the potential
traffic this applies even without the
discounts that you are currently running
just keep in mind that buying new
domains can be expensive you’re looking
at about 18 bucks a month for each
website in addition to any other cost
you may be paying
that dough stacks up fast and while you
may be using it to make bread
well just keep in mind that there’s a
difference between revenue and income
that has bitten a lot of amateur
entrepreneurs in the ass throughout
history
still there’s not much to complain about
here their prices are roughly the same
as the rest of the market being cheaper
than some and more expensive than others
so it’s not like siteground is trying to
gouge you overall you can do a whole lot
worse than siteground for your small
business the only rub is in how it
doesn’t scale super well and that
they’re constantly and i mean constantly
trying to upsell you on their products
in a way that’s really kind of
exhausting i mean look at this
you’re going to see a page like this at
every step of their sign up process and
i got a little annoyed by the end of it
it’s like when you order a pizza and
they make you go through about 10
different pages saying can we tempt you
with breadsticks coke and brownies or
whatever but for a website hosting
service other than that though good
service i recommend at least looking
into it and seeing if it serves your
specific needs
