GoDaddy vs Dreamhost – My Best Hosting Review
Tutorial Hosting
Hi this video is about dreamhost vs. GoDaddy hosting my name is David and I’m with my best hosting review calm now I’ve used over a hundred hosting companies and so I think I understand what makes a good host at least for me personally you might have slightly different needs but overall I’ve
Experienced at least to a certain extent more hosting companies than I think most people so how long have you is I’ve used dreamhost for two years that’s years and GoDaddy for over five years and so I think I couldn’t speak strongly to or confidently about you know what what kind of experience can
You expect first of all cPanel you know cPanel why cPanel cuz this makes a lot of the things that you need to do with the hosting much simpler and easier and faster and things that even if you’re not like a website expert or website technician you can do pretty much all
The things that you really need to do really really really really quickly and simply and so you know having what’s called a cPanel and super-important now not all seat panels are the same and so you know while I well GoDaddy doesn’t look like the classic cPanel in my
Experience it used to not be this way I think they’ve actually taken the classic cPanel and just put a different skin on it so it looks different but it has all the functionalities that I’d want out of this for example like one click WordPress basically this looks almost
Identical to to a cPanel so you just click on here on WordPress boom you’re done or install a train install it Ron boom you know you’re done and then there’s only a few other things that I really need out of the cPanel DreamHost does not have a cPanel and this is a
Really big downside in my opinion and and I just it’s it’s frustrating for me because it makes things so much easier and it’s why reinvent the wheel when this is something that is well established as being very useful and making it so that it’s very user
Friendly and you can do all the things you need to do with something like this without the cPanel there’s a lot of function that you would have to hire someone to do which i think is just thinking yes this is prettier and this is the basic
You know manage domains you can do the FTP if you know how to do FTP you couldn’t do it you know I they do have a databases section let me double check that yes they do have databases so you can actually use WordPress talk about a
Second and they had you have one click install so that makes it easier but it you know it still something where why reinvent the wheel and there’s still some other features that are I think easier to use and simpler with cPanel but I suspect that you’ll be able to use
Everything in DreamHost that you can do with GoDaddy I think it’ll just be a bit more roundabout so why WordPress WordPress is a content management system or CMS and it’s the most popular and it’s most popular for a reason it really saves a lot of time and money there are
Plugins what are called plugins that you can install on it that that can be free or cost you know 20 bucks that can save you paying a developer two weeks of work if they can even do it some things you can do with a free plug-in that you just
Can’t do with other websites how so WordPress is very efficient the counter-argument is that because it’s really popular it’s the least secure because it’s targeted for hacking the most which there’s some truth to it but there are ways simple ways to avoid that needless to say you know my opinion if
You are designing a website from scratch you pretty much without fail do WordPress you can you can design it really quickly and inexpensively you can have a really modern looking website for not that much so let’s go back to here cPanel winner definitely GoDaddy okay it’s not terrible but it’s just kind of
Like why WordPress compatibility this is a time they can both do WordPress which i think is super important support I assume my experience with GoDaddy all right that’s my Amazon echo my experience with GoDaddy support is it’s not great it’s not the best support but it’s also it’s not bad it’s
Definitely um I have definitely experienced worse my experience with DreamHost support I’ve heard good things about it but my personal experience wasn’t we’re not good it just I didn’t feel like the support I got was was really very good I’m gonna give a slight edge to go to
Out of here I hate to say that cuz I’m not like a really big fan of GoDaddy but I just had a really poor experience with with with DreamHost pricing offers so GoDaddy is much less expensive definitely GoDaddy okay you know fifty four dollars for the first year and then ninety six dollars
For the year after and it’s one hundred and twenty dollars a year for DreamHost sorry they do both come with a free domain registration when you buy a year so that’s good are they owned by a company called AIG and why why is this matter because this
Is a company that goes around and they find profitable hosting companies and they buy them and then in my personal experience they and the support immediately plummets okay and and this is well known I experienced it personally Bluehost I know a lot of people that experienced it personally
With Hostgator what they do is in order to make it even more profitable they streamline the support okay which means you get more support I got some really terrible support at one time that actually caught ended up costing me a lot of money with Bluehost so I was a
Big fan of Bluehost that used to have great support and now they don’t and so I try to if there’s any company that’s on here I don’t recommend them basically not that not that it’s the same across all of them okay and and a lot of times
You’re not gonna need the support and you can go years without needing it so it’s not like if you already have a host on here it’s not the end of the world you can switch but you know some of these some of these are gonna be end up
Being okay but I would just never recommend any company that yeah he owns so neither one of these is owned by AIG no in both so what’s my recommendation my recommendation is definitely GoDaddy I mean they’re less expensive they have and they have the classic cPanel and the
Support is is a I mean it seems like everything points towards GoDaddy I don’t see any reason to drink news DreamHost especially because they’re more expensive now I do have a host that I like more than GoDaddy I think provides even better support and they have the classic cPanel and everything
In they they provide a really good product and I’ll put a link to that below what my favorite host is right now and I’m always looking for a new good host so if I change my mind that link will will be updated as well so thanks for watching please like this video and
Have a great day bye
