Notary Tech Talk: Brother HL-L Printer Software Update

All right all right what’s going on Party People this your man Griff all right so if you seen this video that mean it worked what worked me being able to record me updating my software for my printer here the white one um the hll 6210 um Brother printer Series
So couple here work on some stuff and then I saw a little popup window that said software update notification I was like okay and I said you know what this might be an opportunity to do a video so unfortunately I can’t update the software to see how things flow and
Then come back and redo it so I’mma have to try to do this from scratch with y’all right here and now so I’m going to try to record this hopefully it’ll work to where I’ll be able to pull up all the different windows and show you what the
Steps are okay and then when you get it you can do the same so there a preliminary on each printer on each one of these printers there’s a sticker in the back um that has the model number serial number and then it has a a little thing here says password as you see
Right here PWD and then a password this is not a the password to my printer or a password that you can use on yours this is example only okay example only sh you so you’ll see what it looks like you’ll see PWD and a password of whatever they put
On there and and this is what you see here is only for an example this is an example only so on the back of your printer on the back of that you’ll see a big sticker and it’ll have the model number serial number some other stuff
It’ll say brother USA up there and then you’ll see PW D and then a password on the one side of the printer you’ll see Mac address and all of that that’s Network stuff for wireless it’s not that it’s the one that has PWD that’s the password for your printer
Okay and each printer has its own password okay hope y’all follow me on that so do not call me do not email me do not text me do not DM me that this didn’t work on your printer and if it does work for some reason they just
Happen to make it which I doubt don’t tell me and don’t tell anybody okay so do not contact me asking me about hey that password you had up there it didn’t work and if you do contact me I’m just going to ignore you and block you I’m Ser because somebody just playing around
But this is for example only just want so you can see what you’ll be looking for all right so and thank y’all for like sharing and commenting so let me share my screen all right so unfortunately I can’t make this any bigger but this year
Is the dialogue that comes up and it was down in the lower corner of my monitor I got two monitors so the one that I’m looking at was in the corner of that and I was able to move it so when I saw that I could move it I said well maybe I
Could if the windows pop up I can move those too so that y’all can see what the process is so I’m going it says here brother hll 6210 DW series status monitor it’s software that’s that gets added when you add the proper Brother software on here
Um please update the software to add new bug not add new bugs add new features and apply any bug fixes so I’m going to hit the update button all right so then it says here and unfortunately I cannot zoom in on this or maybe I can I see here nope I
Can’t zoom in and um I do not know how to zoom in on the screen on live so if that’s even a feature I can do but it says here the name of the printer then application status software version says please update to add features and any bug fixes so then I hit
Update and then I get this window over here I had to slide it over so y’all can see it do you want to apply the app allow this app to make changes to your device yes all right and what’s happening now which I could not show y’all it was a
Little maybe I can grab that’s what I was concerned about but there was two windows that popped up that showed a progress bar of it downloading some stuff so they happened so fast I couldn’t grab them and slide them over so we got this I hit
Next and then this window pops up I was able to grab that real quick and everything keeps popping up on my other window which is my main Monitor and not this one all right so now it’s doing this thing here do you want to allow public private networks to access this app
That’s a good question Windows Firewall has blocked some features oh yeah I need that so yes allow okay and this here is showing the software for each printer so I got two printers so I might have to go back I think I got the password for this one
Yeah look like I got so it’s asking for me to click ask I see here so okay it’s updated okay my bad everything is update no so it happened that fast it was just that simple I didn’t even need to use my password okay cool cool well okay short
Video see this is why I said I couldn’t do it ahead of time um because it might not show me all of that all the steps but that’s basically all you got to do now there’s a password that you can use but in this case it did it for you okay wow
Interesting okay well hey that was simple but let me show y’all another thing um which I’ve been I can’t remember if I did a video on this or not Um and there’s and I’ll put the link to this in the description let me do a banner real quick so y’all can well let me just change let me change this one so is it all right so this here is a um a URL that you’re going to go to in
Order to get drivers okay and it’s a little funky and I always forget how to make sure they pull up so let me show y’all so right here you’re going to this to the brother side to get to download the proper drivers when you install the printer on
Your computer because most people don’t have um a CD drive so you have to download the software to your computer so I think um it’s you type in h l and i should be able to zoom this in something yeah there we go believe 62 10 ew my bad nope not Ed D
Ew all right there we go so you type it in like that hll 6210 hl-l and this here pulls it up and this is doesn’t matter whether you have a single tray or a double tray you click on this or down here um and then what you’re going to do here
Is select the type of operating system you have my case is Windows 11 you click okay and you see that t in parentheses let me zoom in a little bit and it means this software works for the single tray or the double tray I always recommend that you get the full software package
Which comes with all of the firmware update tool and utilities so you can download these individually but ideally you want to download this all together okay and then you would click on this to download and then you would agree to this and then you will download that software to a location
That you can find on your computer computer and then you can answer these questions um but nonetheless we at where we at where we at I’ll just do something here download um te talk all right and then this is the file let me copy this so this is the file name that
Showed up and then I would download that and then from there you would go to that location um hold on let me do something real quick where the heck is this thing okay and then back down here all right that so I had to so y’all can see down
Here at the bottom all the way at the bottom and then you’ll click on your folder Um then you’ll go to that location where the heck is my folder the heck is it okay there we go never find stuff when I want hold on one second why am I not seeing oh cuz I put in the actual wrong folder okay here we go so here’s a
Folder I put it in documents instead of downloads um and then here’s the file I I can’t make that any bigger um yeah so you can see that’s the file okay that’s the file you would double click on that and run it and just follow
All the prompts and it will load up on you your printer and I mean on your computer and connect to the printer you go through the process whether it’s wireless or wired um me you have a printer cable to it doesn’t matter which one when you’re in the house and you do
That and you’re good to go so wow that was a quick noty Tech talk so um but the links to that to the brother’s site will be in the description just follow suit now if and let me make sure I show y’all something if it’ll work on here or not
Um so let’s go back here and printer all right should open all right so when you have your printer installed properly and then you click on hold let me go back walk out through this so when you click on a printer since we’ve been work and then you click on printer
Properties dialog and then if you click on preferences this dialogue should come up with the banner the brother Banner if you see this with the brother Banner that means you’ve installed the Brother software correctly um you can also just click on printing preferences and if you click on
On printing preferences there it should come up with this now a couple of things that you want to change here and unfortunately I cannot make this any larger but in this middle section when you first install the printer it has two-sided booklet it’s going to be default which I don’t understand why
Brother does this but it defaults to being to printing two-sided you have to go in here and change that okay you have to go in here and change that to because if you don’t it’s going to keep defaulting to print two-sided and you won’t realize that okay and this is
Probably the reason why a lot of people are printing double-sided is because they don’t know to go in here and change that so that that’s why you have the signing company saying don’t print double-sided and some people since they’re not techn Tech they’re not technology they’re not it people they’re
Not technical people and they don’t think that okay well maybe I need to fix something there something in there I don’t know how to fix it and they just leave it as is and then they’re printing everything two sided and having the signer sign front and back so now let’s
Hold on that just clicked in my head maybe that’s why there’s notaries out here who are telling notaries I just print everything two-sided because they themselves don’t know how to fix that they don’t know how to change it from two-sided to S to where it doesn’t print
Two-sided now let me pull something up here real quick um um so this I still got my stuff up from last night so when you click to print here if that button is set to print two-sided this here where it says print on both sides is going to be checked
Okay here’s the thing yes you can check it uncheck it but every time because it’s set in the preferences it’s going to always um default to printing two sided so after you print you close the dialog box up when you open again it’s going to more likely it’s going to be selected to
Print on both sides of paper so you want that turned off and more than likely what’s been going on is that notaries could not figure that out they don’t want to tell anybody and they’re thinking they’re being slick and saving money because I’m using less paper or they don’t know or they print
The customer’s copy two-sided and then they’ve unchecked the print one-sided for themselves to get signed but nobody’s copies nobody’s documents should be printed two-sided at all it’s that simple mortgages should not be printed two-sided under no circumstance okay that’s no don’t do it so yeah that’s a problem solved that
Just popped in my head but what you have here is in here you have none everything else that’s selected in here leave the same first page Auto Select other Pages same as first meaning other Pages get automatically selected and that’s where you change the page s
Make it you know select the thing print page Source by PDF page size U resolution 600 DPI that’s good if you go any higher you’re going to be really using up a lot of ink so mine stays at at 600 don’t drop it down to 300 which I
Know some people probably do and that’s why they say you need to have high quality it needs to be looking good because people are trying to get around PR set Graphics text probably need to be set to text I’mma check that out and I’ll let y’all know later but
This is set to print like it’s a graphic but I think it probably should be set to text so I’m going have to go research that I never noticed that before till now I’ll figure that out later okay so there you go there’s a quick one um hopefully this helps and then there
