Dreamhost Review 2022 – My Honest Thoughts

Tutorial Hosting
Have you seen these deals on Dreamhost? Holy crap. I love Dreamhost and I have always meant to do a review on Dreamhost. And right now is the Dreamhost’s summer sale. They are giving you up to 79% off hosting.

So let me go through the reasons why I have used Dreamhost for over a decade and why I am never going to switch. Let’s dive in. There are a few reasons why I’m never leaving Dreamhost. One, it is so easy to use.

It is a super simple interface that has never let me down. Two, they have fantastic tutorials. Walkthroughs on anything you need and a very strong community support. And finally, their customer service is topnotch. I have run into weird issues and every time I have messaged

Dreamhost customer service, I have gotten a fix within 30 minutes. That’s unheard of. And I know that’s not the case every time. I’ve probably been very lucky in the times I’ve reached out. But one time I was emailing them at 11:30 at night and they responded to me.

And the guy that responded to me was in Colorado. And I’m like, what are you doing responding to me in the middle of the night? Fixing my issue. That’s above and beyond. And for that alone, I will be a lifetime customer.

So first things first, it is very easy to search for domain name. Straightforward. And when you buy through Dreamhost, you automatically have your entire hosting provider ready to go. You can add hosting, stop hosting, add CloudFlare, automatically have free emails, unlimited email addresses for your page. All of that happens automatically.

When I order those, it goes straight into my managed domains. There’s a few things that I wanna show you on this page. First off I can control my hosting very easily. I can choose if I want my page to be www dot or just get rid of the W’s.

I can control who accesses it, edit my PHP, just like that. And redirect it, mirror it to a different site, just park it. And I can alter the DNS very easily. It’ll automatically will give you a free SSL certificate, which is great. Google likes to see this. It helps your overall SEO authority.

It helps you look more trustworthy and it truly provides better security for your site. They also will automatically install a higher level security certificate. If you prefer that. When I’m in managed domains, I can. Web FTP and have very clean and easy access to the back end of my website.

Obviously I could use an FTP app for this like transmit, which is fantastic, but this is free and it comes with Dreamhost. And so I mostly just use this. If I need to edit my .htaaccess or anything, I come here. Be sure you always download a backup copy first.

So Dreamhost will provide you with unlimited email addresses for your domains. So you can use webmail or use any of your existing email programs to sign into Dreamhost webmail. And just have however many emails you want for your domain.

I do that for most of mine, but a few of them I keep on Gmail because I prefer Gmail. Though, that one I have to pay more for. And if you’re just a beginner Dreamhost will automatically install WordPress for you, which is very easy way to get started.

So you could come in here, you could add a domain, add a security certificate and one click install your WordPress all in one place and have your site ready to go. So if I’m here, I just do learn more and install. I choose which domain I want to install it on.

Please be sure there are no files already on that domain. And it will automatically create a database for me. I do recommend skipping the install WordPress website builder. It’s BoldGrid website builder and I am not a fan. I only use Elementor page builder because it is much cleaner.

It provides me with a faster website and something that is way easier to edit. If you don’t want to install it, just say no. I do like the deluxe install though, because that comes with a variety of example themes, including Elementor’s free version.

And it also will provide you with standard plugins that are the same plugins that I recommend. Go with that. Install it for you. Now they’ll send you an email and you’ll be good to go. So right now, with Dreamhost, you can get your .com domain for only $5.99, and

You can get your hosting for 79% off. I do the shared unlimited because I get unlimited websites, unlimited traffic, bandwidth. I get that free WordPress install and I get unlimited emails. Right now, it’s only $2. 95 a month.

I would like to point out that I pay a lot more than this now because I have been on Dreamhost for 10 years. I now pay $155.88 a year for my unlimited hosting plan. And I have multiple domains on that, which I each pay $17.99 for my annual ownership of that domain.

So it does go up. It’s also easy to transfer your site if you decide that you don’t want to pay that. I’ve built websites for people and I’ve come in and help people with their websites. And a lot of them will be on cheap hosting providers that have terrible back ends.

It’s very hard to understand what you’re doing and if you run into trouble, the customer service is subpar at best. If you are a beginner or anyone who doesn’t want to waste their time dealing with hosting issues, go with a quality hosting provider. And Dreamhost is that for me.

The only other hosting provider that I am comfortable recommending is Bluehost and they offer comparable packages and prices. I don’t know if they have a super summer sale. So if you’re looking for another quality provider, that’s Bluehost, and at some point I’ll look at the back end of Bluehost for you as well.
